The Institute of Cosmetology, Esthetics & Massage is dedicated to providing cosmetology students with marketable skills needed to succeed in life and the workplace. Students will develop a wide array of knowledge, skills and competencies ranging from a strong understanding of beauty concepts to current trends. 

Course Overview

Cosmetology

Small classes ensure students learn cosmetology skills thoroughly on a one-on-one basis. Experienced teachers work with students in the classroom and on the clinic floor. After 200 hours of training on mannequins, students advance to the clinic floor and perform services on clients, giving them the opportunity to experience a real salon atmosphere.

Theory classes cover all topics necessary to learn anatomy and physiology of the hair, nails and skin, basic chemistry and product knowledge, color theory, styles and fashion. After completion of 1000 hours, students are prepared to pass the state board examination and are ready for a successful career working in a salon.

 

During the Cosmetology course, students will learn: 

  • Hair and scalp analysis. 

  • Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp. 

  • Hair cutting in all different styles. 

  • Perms. 

  • Relaxers. 

  • Hair coloring and semi-colors. 

  • Highlights and low lights. 

  • Hairstyling using roller sets and blow dry, curling iron, flat iron and finger waves. 

  • Hair up-dos and styles for special occasions. 

  • Basic skin cleansing and make-up application. 

  • Basic manicure and pedicure. 

  • Sanitation practices for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation state board examination.

    • 1000 Hours.

  • Total Cost:

    • $14,920 – includes tuition, books, supplies and registration fee​.

  • Attendance:

    • Full-time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. Approximately nine months to complete.
